Exploring Quiapo by Eating

I haven't had any entries for the past 4 months for I had been reviewing for the CPA Board exam this October. Thankfully, it's over for now and all I do is wait for the results. Anyway, just this September, I went with my roommates, Abby and Rea to Quiapo Church to pray. Afterwards Rea, suggested to have dinner at the old Chinese restaurant she use to go to with her family. She suggested Ami's or the Ma Mon Luk, but we decided try both.

These are Abby and Rea while choosing what to order.

Since we have no idea what to order, we asked the waitress for her suggestion. So we ordered these, she said they are famous for their Pancit, Lomi and we decided to pair it with their club sandwich.

Well, regarding the taste, I can say that there are far more better restaurants that I've tried. Anyway, let's just charged this to experience. We spent an average of 110 per person here.

This is Abby at Ma Mon Luk. She's having a look at newspaper articles featuring the said restaurant. Ma Mon Luk has been managed by the same family for generations already.

What we ordered here are just their regular and special siopao. I must say, I was surprised that it has salted egg inside instead of just the regular egg. It was a siopao worth the price we paid. Their special siopao cost 60 pesos I think while the regular one is about 50 pesos.

Well since we are already in the area, we decided to swing by Globe Lumpia House. Rea said it was featured in Kris Aquino's show so we were curious on how does their fresh lumpia taste. The shop has a really, really small area with a long bench and probably two stools for customers to sit on while waiting for their order. Their is one area for the cashier and the picture below is where they make their famous fresh lumpia. It looks non hygienic, but who cares. I don't. Each fresh lumpia costs 18 pesos and it was so worth it. Better than Goldilocks' actually. This is so worth every cent we paid. Maybe because we don't have to pay for extra charges like accommodations and other cost adding most business have their customers pay for.

So this is Kuya doing his job and he's really fast too.

If you happen to swing by this lumpia house, it is best to actually eat it as soon as you can. It is best enjoyed while still fresh and hot. This ends our Quiapo food trip.
